Dynamic Calibration

What Is A.D.A.S Clibration

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which are safety systems designed to assist drivers in avoiding accidents and improving road safety. ADAS calibration refers to the process of adjusting and configuring these systems to ensure that they are functioning correctly and accurately.

ADAS systems use a combination of sensors, cameras, and other components to provide features such as lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. These systems rely on accurate data and calibration to function properly.

Dynamic Calibration

Dynamic calibration, also known as "on-road calibration," is a specialized process essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of your vehicle's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Unlike static calibration, which occurs in a controlled environment, dynamic calibration takes place while your vehicle is in motion. This method allows for real-time adjustments to be made, ensuring that your ADAS features function optimally in various driving conditions.

Understanding Dynamic Calibration

Dynamic calibration begins in the comfort of your shop, parking lot, or driveway, where a Costal Calibrations Technician will utilize advanced diagnostic tools to identify any disruptions to your vehicle's ADAS features. Certain types of sensors may require the vehicle to be in motion for accurate recalibration, hence the term "dynamic" calibration.

On-Road Calibration Process

Once the initial assessment is complete, the dynamic calibration process transitions to the road. Cameras, in particular, often necessitate on-road calibration to reset their functionality accurately. During this phase, our technicians will drive your vehicle on a straight road for a specified duration, typically between five and 30 minutes, at predetermined speeds.

Optimal Conditions for Calibration

To ensure the effectiveness of dynamic calibration, the chosen road should feature visible and clear lane markings. These markings assist the vehicle's cameras in accurately detecting the vehicle's position within the lane. It's essential to select a route with suitable conditions to facilitate the calibration process effectively.
